About Global Broadcast Networks

Global Broadcast Networks (GBN) is an independent British company specialising in the production of tailor-made radio and television programming and Internet content for broadcasters worldwide. GBN was founded by a group of experienced broadcast professionals with the aim of providing broadcasters with exciting and timely news and sports programming made to broadcasters' exact specifications. GBN senior staff include Eric Lee, China Director, Sean Curtis-Ward, CEO, and Henry Peirse, MD (see below). GBN is the first UK production company to forge a link with the biggest radio broadcaster in the world – China National Radio (CNR).

Sean Curtis-Ward, GBN CEO

From his early days as a newspaper and broadcast journalist, Sean moved into management roles at media companies in the early 1990s. In 1994, he established his own company, International News Productions Ltd. (INP). After running it successfully for nine years, he sold the company to the Press Association (PA) in 2002. In 2000, he had established a separate company, Television News Release Ltd. (TNR), which was also acquired by the PA. He has worked in the field of foreign television news for more than 25 years. Before establishing INP, he was news editor at Middle East Broadcasting (MBC), where he established the first pan-Arab television news network. He was also senior news editor at BSB, now BSkyB. A former Head of Broadcasting at the Press Association (PA), he also worked at Worldwide Television News (WTN), now Associated Press Television, for seven years. He held the posts of field producer, Sports Editor, Foreign News Editor and News Operations Manager.

Henry Peirse, GBN MD

Henry began his career as a freelance radio and TV reporter. Between 1992 and 1998, he covered the war in former Yugoslavia. Whilst there he ran United Nations Radio in Bosnia, and built ‘eFM’ Radio Sarajevo, before returning to London to concentrate on the business of developing media companies. In 2000, he founded the African Broadcast Network, the first pan-African free-to-air TV network. The same year, he formed Global Radio News Ltd (GRN, www.globalradionews.com), a freelance news agency providing reporters to radio and TV broadcasters around the world for live programme segments. GRN now has more than 500 reporters in 110 countries on its books and works with broadcasters ranging from CBC, RTE, Russia Today, Sky News and Fox News to radio stations including DW Radio, Radio Live New Zealand and the BBC. He has also been instrumental in setting up several other media businesses.

Eric Lee, GBN China Director

An economics graduate from the London School of Economics and Political Science, Eric Lee has been the driving force behind establishing GBN within Chinese media circles. He has worked between Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, building up strategic relationships with radio, TV and government media regulators in China. He formerly worked as a news editor at Global Radio News. He is based in Beijing, and speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
